Other way I think - we all are on a hedonic treadmill anyway. what's the point of taking risks associated with immediate gratification. Practicing to delay all these decisions makes a lot of sense logically.
It's impulse vs insight too. If people realize that their impulses aren't helping build wealth, the hope is they will get the insight to change their behaviour.
